Vertical Mandibular Alveolar Bone Distraction and Dental Implant Placement: A Case Report

Abstract Extensive bone defects complicate the adequate placement of dental implants and the required angulation. In such cases, alveolar-ridge augmentation techniques such as guided bone regeneration, particulate or block grafting, and alveolar bone distraction are needed. The present study describes a case in which a large vertical bone defect in the anterior mandibular zone was corrected via vertical alveolar bone distraction. Six dental implants were posteriorly placed for implant-supported restoration of the mandible, with early implant loading. The clinical and radiologic control showed good implant and soft tissue conditions 12 months later.

Functional impression and jaw registration: a single session procedure for the construction of complete dentures*

The conventional fabrication of complete dentures involves two separate clinical sessions for functional impression making and jaw registration. The presented method combines both procedures in one session. The aim of this study was to survey the three-dimensional tooth positions in complete dentures with reference to the ridges to establish arbitrary guideline values that could be used for the manufacturing of tooth-position analogue plastic rims on functional impression trays. Shifts in Key Time Points and Strategies for a Multisegment Motor Task in Healthy Aging Subjects

International audience; In this study, we compared key temporal points in the whole body pointing movement of healthy aging and young subjects. During this movement, subject leans forward from a standing position to reach a target. As it involves forward inclination of the trunk, the movement creates a risk for falling. We examined two strategic time points during the task-first, the crossover point where the velocity of the center of mass (CoM) in the vertical dimension outstripped the velocity in the anteroposterior dimension and secondly, the time to peak of the CoM velocity profile. Orthodontics and veneers to restore the anterior guidance. A minimally invasive approach

Tooth wear is defined as the progressive loss of a tooth's surface due to actions other than those which cause tooth decay or dental trauma. It is a pathological condition with an increasing prevalence among young people. The aim of this article is to describe an alternative treatment modality to rehabilitate the anterior guidance by a minimally invasive interdisciplinary ortho-restorative treatment. Two patients came to the dental clinic for restorative treatment in order to rehabilitate the worn anterior dentition. Association between third molar agenesis and craniofacial structure development

Introduction The aim of this investigation was to study the relationship between third molar agenesis—including the number of ageneses—and craniofacial structure growth. Methods We reviewed 305 clinical histories of patients treated at the Orthodontics Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Valencia in Spain. This included radiographic records of optimal quality. Of these, 40 patients who had agenesis of at least 1 third molar were included in the study group. Morphological parameters as predictors of successful correction of Class III malocclusion

The aim of the study was to assess pre-treatment cephalometric parameters and measurements of the size of the apical bases as predictors of successful orthodontic correction of Class III malocclusions. Pre- and post-treatment lateral cephalograms and study models of 80 completed Class III subjects were examined to obtain 23 cephalometric parameters taken mainly from the analyses of McNamara and Schwarz, and to measure the size of the apical bases.
